I prefer 50% of the 'Hoodoo' project to the kind of music Fogerty has been producing in recent years.
The ‘Revival’ cd was a fine return to form, but lacked the necessary ooomph to take it to the next level, followed by the terrible ‘Blue Ridge Rangers 2’ and then another rehash of the glory days with mainly country music performers.
To me, he’s lost the rock edge and is getting softer and softer, given he’s nearing 70 ~ not on stage but in the recording studio.
And it seems the well is almost dry with merely two new songs since ‘Revival’ was released on 2007.
Now the schmaltzy ‘Joy of My Life’ has resurfaced again in concerts.
Speaking of which, it also looks like the only way any 'Hoodoo' songs would ever be redone is if ‘The Boss’ (and I ain’t talking Bruce Springsteen) suggested he should redo some of them ~ which Foges would later describe the idea as coming from a brilliant mind ~ although many fans have been requesting it for a long time.
At his age, what has he got to lose.
